Befriending

We support lonely and isolated adults by offering companionship, support within the household with tasks and in the community. The Care Leaders Group Befriender service is a movement that’s rebuilding preventative services and early intervention in the community — one friendly visit, one conversation, one connection at a time.

ABOUT BEFRIENDING
Companionship & Emotional Support
Our team of friendly befrienders offer genuine companionship and an active listening ear. We support you to feel connected, heard and valued helping to boost your confidence and mental well-being. Through regular visits and meaningful conversations, we help reduce feelings of loneliness and create lasting bonds that bring joy and comfort to everyday life.

Household
We provide support with your everyday tasks around the home; from cleaning to meal preparation and decluttering - we are happy to help! Our aim is to make your day to day easier and more comfortable. By assisting with these practical tasks, we also create space for you to enjoy hobbies, social activities, or simply relax, knowing that support is always there when you need it.

Respite for carers:
We work closely with carers and family members, giving them peace of mind and a well deserved break when they need it. We provide reliable, compassionate support; helping their loved ones feel safe, valued and cared for. This partnership ensures that both carers and their families can maintain balance and wellbeing while knowing their loved ones are in trusted hands.

In community
Our befrienders can accompany you on short trips to medical appointments, shopping or community activities. Our reliable team give reassurance and support so that you feel confident when out in the community. This support not only enables greater independence but also encourages participation in social and community life, helping to build confidence and a sense of belonging.

Matching
We support the matching process by pairing service users with befrienders who share their interests, hobbies, and preferences, helping foster genuine connections. These thoughtful matches create meaningful friendships that last and encourage service users to engage more fully with their local community.

Support plans
We work with our service users and their family members/carers to develop a personalized support plan. The support plan outlines the needs and goals of the service user that is regularly reviewed to ensure they get the most from the support of a befriender. This tailored approach ensures every individual receives the right support at the right time, helping them achieve personal goals, maintain independence, and enhance overall wellbeing.
